It's worked for music tracks and episodes of Lost, so why not training videos? Halifax, Canada-based Dover Studios is now offering its recent series of Maya training DVDs as downloads. The videos cover NURBS-based modeling, raytrace rendering optimization, and texture creation in Autodesk's widely popular animation program.

Dover Studios principals Andrew and Russell Hazelden have been creating visual effects training programs for six years. Russell says that the Maya training series is aimed at beginners and intermediate-level animators looking to get serious with the program. The DVDs (or downloads) go for $49.95.
