At NAB, Sony made a splash with a 23.5in. LCD reference monitor that''s backlit by light-emitting diodes. That LED technology makes a wide color gamut possible—one reason that Sony is claiming that the BVM-L230 achieves the critical evaluation capabilities of the CRT members of the BVM line. It also has a 10-bit driver and incorporates Sony''s Trimaster technologies that maximize flatpanel performance. Specifically, Trimaster technologies include a new wide color-gamut panel, high grayscale gradation (1,024 levels), and color calibration.
