IDX has a new idea for batteries: removable power cartridges. Replacing one or both cartridges is cheaper than replacing the whole battery, claims IDX. Designed for ENG/EFP production operations, the new Endura Elite battery line debuted at NAB 2007. The batteries' compact size (3.9"×6.6"×2.8"), lightweight design (2.75lbs.), and aircraft security compliance make them ideal for traveling video shooters. IDX says that the new twin power-cartridge design doubles their shooting capability for continuous operation up to 3.5 hours while using a 40W high-def ENG/EFP camera. The batteries can be used with any ENG/EFP camera equipped with a V-mount. Cameras with gold-mount adapter plates can be used with the batteries via an optional IDX adapter.
