Epson takes claim to the title of the number-one-selling projector brand worldwide, so let's see the specs on the company's second-generation 1080p projector. Introduced at CEDIA Expo in September, the PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 UB is Epson's new flagship model, delivering a full 1080p resolution with a claimed contrast ratio of up to 50,000:1. While some may quibble with such numbers, the new projector does address some of LCD projectors' weaknesses via a new chipset with a less heat-sensitive inorganic substrate, along with 12-bit video processing and a new polarizing light filter. The result is said to be improved blacks with tonal response as well as elevated contrast ratios compared to previous models.
