Over the years, Snell & Wilcox has garnered a top reputation for its gear; a number of breakthroughs came via R&D conducted with the BBC's best engineers. Now, the United Kingdom-based company has spun off AmberFin. The software firm — which debuted at IBC 2008 — will focus on solving video-processing problems sans specialized hardware. At the show, AmberFin demo'd the latest version of the iCR content-repurposing system, its main product. New features in version 4 of the software include enhanced cutting and splicing of MXF-compliant files, better interoperability with Avid Technology editing systems, and improved support for Apple QuickTime and Final Cut Pro workflows.
