With their light weight, low heat output, and modest energy needs, LEDs continue to grow in popularity for on-camera lighting. Now, United Kingdom-based Gekko Technology adds to the technology''s flexibility with kleer colour, which the company claims is “the world''s first” adjustable, focusable single-source LED technology. Using the control built into the unit''s firmware, lights can be tuned under software control to produce millions of different color temperatures. At NAB Show 2009, Gekko introduced the first LED lamp using kleer colour: kedo, a focusable spotlight equivalent in output to a 1kW Fresnel.
