Hollywood Post Alliance Announces HPA Awards

Leon Silverman, President of the Hollywood Post Alliance, has announced the creation of the Hollywood Post Alliance Awards. The HPA Awards will acknowledge creative and technical excellence in the art, science and craft of post-production. The HPA

Awards will be handed out at a gala show to be held on the evening of November 2, 2006.



In discussing the creation of the HPA Awards, Silverman commented "the HPA Awards were created to foster awareness of post production and to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of post production talent." He continued, "the talented and highly creative men and women of the post production industry help to truly create the 'magic of Hollywood.' Too often their significant contributions are hidden and unacknowledged. The Hollywood Post Alliance is proud to be able to showcase the talent and skills of the artists of the post production community."



Silverman also presented the new HPA Awards logo. The HPA Awards will recognize excellence in categories including color grading, editing, audio post-production and compositing. The HPA has also announced special awards; the award recognizing the Outstanding Contribution to Advancing the Field of Post Production, and long-anticipated Engineering Excellence Awards.



The guidelines for the Engineering Excellence Awards will be announced at the upcoming HPA Technology Retreat in Palm Springs on February 22-24. The other awards will be judged and voted upon by a jury of peers in each category. A call for judges will go out in early summer, 2006.



The period of eligibility is from September 4, 2005 to September 4, 2006. Entry forms will be available on June 8, 2006, and submissions will be accepted from June 15 until August 15, 2006. Nominations will be announced on September 25 and final judging will occur on October 14.
