See the New Trailer for Sofia Coppola's "Sexy, Fun and Dark" 'The Beguiled'

4/20/2017 4:15 PM Eastern
Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled is a remake of the 1970s Clint Eastwood film and seems to have all of the hallmarks of a Coppola feature including healthy doses of eroticism and female empowerment.

The Civil War-set story is about an injured Union soldier (Colin Farrell) who takes refuge at an all-girls boarding school in the South, where seduction quickly turns into something more sinister. Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning co-star.

“I had seen the 1971 film with Clint Eastwood and it was such a far-out premise. I loved the girls’ school, southern gothic style and sexual tension in the hot south,” Coppola said at CinemaCon as reported by IndieWire. “The story is just really intriguing and sexy and fun and dark. It takes a dark turn you wouldn’t expect.”

The film will premiere at Cannes and have its theatrical release on June 23rd. Watch the new trailer below.
