From 'The Keepers,' a Netflix documentary directed by Ryan White
Ryan White's Netflix documentary series The Keepers is a complicated true-crime story that focuses on the murder of Baltimore nun Sister Catherine Cesnik in 1969 along with systematic sexual abuse at the Catholic high school where she taught.

White tells David Zurawik at The Baltimore Sun that besides the case itself, the documentary becomes even more compelling because of the Facebook group of older women, students of Sister Cathy, who for years have fought for answers in the case. "A lot of the documentary is following this group of women who come together first to solve the murder of their favorite teacher and through that have created this community that's allowed dozens and dozens of abuse victims to start talking about it for the first time," says White. "It's about them finding a community and safe haven and co-operation and other people who believe them. And that's been really powerful to witness."
