The New York Times profiles the meteoric rise of reality TV producer Thom Beers (Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers), who currently has 13 shows on 8 networks. They write that Beers is "one of the few producers in reality television who is synonymous with an entire subgenre. What Andy Cohen is to over-the-top socialites and Mark Burnett is to game shows on South Pacific islands, Beers is to blue-collar TV."
