Fast Company's Co.Create goes behind-the-scenes of the Oscar-nominated short animated film, Paperman, which uses a unique blend of hand-drawn animation and CGI.
Says Disney software engineer Brian Whited, who developed a program called Meander which made the blend possible, "I was dealing with the interpolation of hand-drawn animation. Everything has been CG-focused in the past couple of decades, so it’s trying to bring some of those computer algorithm principles to the old style of animation.”
