If you’re managing video across numerous platforms, you’ll need to consider your options for encoding and transcoding as you prepare media for distribution to multiple screens.

AJA Video

HELO

AJA HELO is an H.264 streaming and recording device that allows users to stream video signals directly to web content delivery networks (CDN) at the same time they are encoding and recording H.264 files to either SD cards, USB storage or network-based storage. HELO offers both 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, the power to handle up to 1080p 60 recording formats and a simple web-based UI for easy configuration. Key features include standalone HD/SD H.264 streaming and recording, H.264 streaming and recording bit rates up to 20 Mb/s, embedded audio support, and a second USB port to configure a static/dynamic IP address or make firmware updates. HELO will be available soon for $1,295. 

Dalet

Dalet AmberFin

IMF use is climbing, and the need for systems that can create, import, manage and export IMF bundles is skyrocketing. The latest version of the Dalet AmberFin media processing platform includes the ability to generate, QC (including Netflix Photon) and deliver IMF packages in an automated and scalable way. The upcoming release of Dalet AmberFin adds ProRes 444, DNxHR and H.264 10-bit support on transcode output up to 4K, rounding out the support of all the major 4K formats for postproduction and delivery (ProRes, DNxHR, XAVC 4K, J2K, HEVC, H.264). 

DVEO

Ministreamer HD-SDI/IP

Measuring 5.5” long and 4.88” wide, the Ministreamer HD-SDI/IP is a single-channel H.264/AVC encoder/live streamer with a latency of 150 milliseconds. It ingests SDI/HD-SDI video inputs and supports multiple simultaneous IP outputs. It encodes a single stream at 0.1 to 60 Mb/s at resolutions up to 1080p30/1080i60. It can record and stream simultaneously, saving data on its built-in 32 GB solid-state drive or on USB-attached storage. The system supports standard protocols including UDP and RTP with unicast or multicast, and wrappers such as HLS (for output to mobile devices), RTMP and DASH. An HDMI input version is also available. The portable Linux-based encoder features remote management from anywhere via the public internet.

LU600 is a portable transmission unit for global newsgathering and live sports and events coverage. It delivers high video quality and bit rate (up to 20 Mb/s), file transfer speeds up to 80 Mb/s, minimal latency (0.5 seconds) and a high-speed bonded internet capability of up to 100 Mb/s. The LU600 is field-upgradable to H.265 HEVC. Tailored to the needs of mobile journalists and weighing about 2.2 pounds, the LU600 includes LiveU’s integral LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol for optimized video performance using adaptive bit rate and forward error correction technology. LRT enables reliable, low delay live video streaming over non-guaranteed IP networks.

Tyton VS2

Tyton VS2 is a low-latency, high-efficiency H.265 (HEVC) video encoder with dual 3G-SDI inputs. This ruggedized video encoding and streaming solution is designed to serve video transmission needs in harsh field environments. The MIL-STD-810G and IP67 compliant Tyton VS2 is capable of capturing two 3G-SDI inputs simultaneously and encoding them using the H.265 (HEVC) or H.264 (AVC) video encoding standards. Both video inputs can be internally split and routed to each of the product’s eight built-in dynamic encoding engines (1080p60 encoding utilizes two engines and HD utilizes a single engine), each individually configurable to different bit rates. Each of the Tyton VS2’s eight dynamic encoding cores can individually be configured to encode to H.264 or H.265 standards using software API settings, allowing true future-proofing of existing installations looking to utilize H.265 in the future. mRes, Pronology’s standalone multi-resolution encoder, provides even greater flexibility to today’s multi-frame rate and multi-codec production environments by providing access to multiple formats instantaneously for any given production that requires different codecs, wrappers and resolutions. This uncompressed recording architecture allows mRes to provide various file formats without any loss of quality or signal degradation because each copy is created from the original uncompressed file. mRes is controlled by Pronology’s new clip controller application, which allows the encoder to be operated with a simple-to-deploy, easy-to-use standalone control application. mRes integrates with most storage systems, such as Avid ISIS and Small Tree.
