Thread: MPEG2 capabilities of full version

Default MPEG2 capabilities of full version

I am interested in purchasing premiere or vegas, but I am not sure which one would be better. I would mainly be doing VHS to DVD transfer and wanted something with a good MPEG2 encoder, and maybe some fun effects. I will be eligible for academic pricing of either, and there is not much price difference between the two. I was originally leaning towards Vegas, but wondered if some of you with experience could lend me some advice.

the second question I have involved Vegas. Does the full retail version come with the Mainconcept MPEG2 encoder capable of 2 pass VBR, or do I need to purchase that as a seperate plug in?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    thanks for the reply....

my follow up question: Is the 2 pass VBR capability included in the full version, OR do I need to purchase the plug-in additional to purchasing the Vegas software?

If you simply purchase Vegas 6, you will get an MPEG2 encoder with 2-pass VBR.

If you purchase Vegas 6+DVD, you will also gain the AC-3 encoder and full DVD authoring abilities.
