SENIOR TEXTURE ARTIST (HARD SURFACE)

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Create, maintain and organize texture assets
  • Update and modify textures to meet look development requirements
  • Work within the asset management pipeline to publish and update textures to downstream departments
  • Work closely with respective modelers in creation of displacement, cavity and normal maps
  • Create simple shaders to test textures under the look development lighting conditions
  • Work closely with the Texture Lead in understanding the level of quality required for the show
  • Helps establish suitable working techniques with other members of the texture team
  • Works in partnership with lighters and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
  • Innovative problem solver and workflow designer
  • Deliver assets with the approval of the Texture Lead/ Asset Supervisor


THIS IS WHAT WE REQUIRE:


  • 4+ years experience creating high quality textures for visual effects for film
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating photo-realistic textures
  • Thorough understanding of traditional art skills (colour, proportion, scale, composition, design ) and how to apply those skills in a digital medium
  • Strong understanding of how texture maps work in a lighting/shading paradigm
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and Maya required
  • Proficiency in LINUX/UNIX required
  • Proficiency in Mari desirable
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information
  • Attention to detail required
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse collection of individuals
  • Demonstrate artistic ability
  • Proficiency in UVlayout or Unfold 3D required (for organic AND hard surface assets)
  • The ability to work as a look development artist for more complete testing of textures is a plus
  • Ability to balance quick turnaround with achieving a high degree of aesthetic quality
