So I've recently upgraded both my computer AND my Final Cut Studio.
I now have Final Cut Studio 3 and my iMac specs are as followed

Processor: 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 12 GB 1000 MHz DDR3
FireWire Bus: Max Speed: Up to 800mb/sec
Graphics: ATI RADEON HD 5750
Harddrive: 712 or a 1tb HD

My FCP AUDIO VIDEO settings are as followed
Sequence Preset: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920X1080 30p 48 kHz
Capture Preset HDV-Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
Device Control Preset: Sony HDV FireWire
VIdeo Playback: None
Audio Playback: Default.

I shoot on a SONY HDV-FX1 in 1080i and connect to the iMac via Firewire 800/ (I'm blanking what the other side is called but it connects to my camera.

My problem, since i've gotten this new program, as been during my Log and Capture. I'll let the tape play and my FCP splits up my footage into different files via where i've stopped and resumed recording. However, it will suddenly, and with out warning or any cause i can see, throw me the beach ball of DOMMY-DOOM and all of FCP will shut down. I will have to open it back up to find that the two previous log and capture files are unreadable and i have to rewind and recapture.

yesterday i went for 30 minutes before this happened and after that i would get random spots of 2 minutes before a crash to maybe 5.

DOes anyone know what's going on.

Thanks so very much.
