Thread: can i work with footage shot in hd and in standard definition....

    Default can i work with footage shot in hd and in standard definition....

    in final cut x? need to shoot an event and the 2 cameras i will be using are a dslr, shooting hd video and my old canon gl1? any thoughts, suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Sure, no problem. Just decide if you want to deliver HD or SD in the end.

    SD won't look as good if blown up to HD size. Unless you use something like Phyx Rezorect. Yet, you could make an HD Timeline and drop your clips in to it, and enlarge the SD footage to fit.

    On the other hand, if you create an SD Timeline to edit in, export and deliver SD, no problem. HD shrinks to SD frame size pretty well.

    BUT, you will have a definite difference in the looks between the cameras. Some color correction and such may help. But the cameras are so different, I think the footage will be very noticeably different.
