Default Sony HDR FX7 not talking to Final Cut

I'm trying to capture footage from my Sony HDR FX7 into Final Cut version 6.0. This is something I do on a daily basis, and have done so without a problem for almost a year.

Now, suddenly, my version of Final Cut no longer seems to recognize the camera. Every time I hit "Log & Capture," I'm told the program can't find the camera. The curious thing is that it also happens when I try capturing on a different computer.

The firewire cable itself is fine, because it's been tested with other cameras. So my guess is that a setting in the camera somehow got set incorrectly. Any ideas what that could be and how to fix it?

Or could the problem actually be with Final Cut itself? If so, what is it, and can anyone suggest a remedy?

Assistance, as always, is met with enormous gratitude.

I, too, am curious for some answers. I am strongly leaning toward buying this camcorder, but I need it to work with FCP. I hope it works out for you, and I'll stay posted.
