NAB Update: JMR Offers New Storage Options

JMR Electronics, Inc., a leading provider of scalable storage systems for video and data intensive applications, will showcase several new high performance RAID storage solutions as part of their BlueStor family for postproduction and broadcast at the NAB 2009 show in the Las Vegas Convention Center from April 20th - 23rd.  
 
At JMR's booth (SL 8206), the company will introduce its newest Fibre Channel RAID storage product, FibreStream. With playback read speeds exceeding 1,300 MB/s, FibreStream is designed for today's 24/7 workflow intensive rich media and critical data IT markets where sustained performance,  data integrity and  reliability in a storage system are key factors for business continuance. FibreStream delivers performance and data protection for applications in standard and high-definition video postproduction, digital prepress, disk-to-disk backup, audio post, e-mail compliance, data warehousing, data mining and transaction-based environments.

FibreStream can be configured for RAID levels 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 10, 40, 50 or 60 and can store up to 32TB (24TB available now using 1.5TB SATA-2 drives and up to 32TB using upcoming 2 TB SATA-2 drives) in a single 3U 16-bay RAID shelf. To expand storage beyond the 16 internal drives, simply daisy-chain the FibreStream system to JMR's BlueStor SAS JBOD Expansion unit — multiple expansion units can be connected in this manner to create customized storage.
 
For those seeking fast, highly reliable and affordable Direct Attached Storage options, JMR's BlueStor product line includes their patented PeSAN RAID systems, which were developed as high-performance Direct Attached (Networked Attached Storage or Server solutions available) for content creation, VOD, video editing and 2K/4K Digital Intermediate (DI) film applications requiring extremely high sustained throughput and reliability. A single 16-bay 3U RAID array with up to 16-32TB raw capacity using the latest in SATA -2 HDDs (or 4.8TB using SAS HDDs), delivers over 1,400 MB/s.  This exceeds the performance requirements for multi-stream SD, HD and 2K DI applications. For collaborative or multi-stream SD/HD and 2K/4K DI workflows requiring even higher performance and scalable storage, BlueStor PeSAN powered RAIDs can achieve up to 4,000 MB/s and be expanded to over 4,000TB using the current JMR PeSAN technology.
 
Another JMR product available at booth SL 8206 will be the BlueStor EXTN-8 PCIe x8 Extender Storage System.  The EXTN-8 allows PCI Express bus expansion from a host server.  The BlueStor Extender provides 5 PCIe expansion slots in an external 3U rackmount also containing 16 hot-swap SAS/SATA disk drive bays and a SAS Expander.  Plugging a PCIe SAS RAID controller into one of the Extender slots builds a RAID storage system.  Other slots may be used as needed for other peripherals. Each BlueStor PCIe Extender has an x8 port for the host connection, plus one x8 PCIe slot and four x4 PCIe slots.  To concatenate Extenders, simply plug in a PCIe adapter card into the x8 slot and use an x8 PCIe external cable to another Extender.  Hundreds of configurations are possible using this unique full-bandwidth extension system.
