SXSW Chooses TriCaster to Expand Reach of World’s Largest Film, Music and Interactive Festival
Every year, South by Southwest (SXSW) draws more than 200,000 people to Austin, Texas, turning the capital city into the epicenter of film, music and technology during the 10-day festival. With limited space and the increasing demand for access to exclusive events, SXSW used TriCaster to take the show live to the web and give fans unprecedented access to the hottest events. For the first time, “SXSW Live” brought music showcases, keynote speakers, convergence panels and more through the Festival’s live-stream page.

The Mill Adds Graphic Texture to 'Manhunt'
Greg Barker’s documentary Manhunt follows the decade-spanning journey toward the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden. The film debuted to positive reviews at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. To augment the story, The Mill L.A. created graphic elements that included layers of research data, Al Qaeda network information and CIA documents. “I read all of the source material and some dense historical books that allowed me to understand the history of the manhunt,” says Mill L.A. creative director and designer Manija Emran. She adds that her collaboration with “the director, editor, archive researcher and producers of the documentary enabled the titles to be even deeper and more layered, as the graphics needed to emphasize the key moments in the complex story.”

The Practicalities of Fast Run and Gun Shooting with a Large Sensor Camera
Alister Chapman of XDCAM-USER writes: Well I’ve just returned home from NAB and a week of Tornado Chasing in the USA. For the Tornado chasing I was shooting in 4K using my Sony F5. I’ve shot run and gun with my F3 and FS700 in the past when shooting air-shows and similar events. But this was very different. Tornado chasing is potentially dangerous. You often only have seconds to grab a shot which involves leaping out of a car, quickly setting up a tripod and camera and then framing and exposing the shot. You often only have time for one 30 second shot before you have to jump back into the car and move on out ahead of the storm. All of this my be happening in very strong winds and rain. The storms I chased last week had inflow winds rushing into them at 50+ MPH.

'Polar Spirits' Captures Epic Northern Lights
From Norwegian landscape photographer, Ole Salomonsen, comes his third short-film about the northern lights. This year some epic displays has been on the sky, and for the first time he has included real-time recordings. The video is shot using stills and assembled together for best possible resolution and dynamic range. In this video however, for the first time, he includes some real-time video footage. "This is to better show how furiously fast and beautiful the polar spirits can dance!" says Salomonsen.
