Blackmagic CEO Grant Petty Talks Cinema Camera

Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty talks to Movie Machine about their reasoning behind developing the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. He says, "The Canon 5D is a beautiful camera. But there were just a few things that...we wished it had. It's a still camera that does an awesome job at doing video and I think it's underappreciated what it did for the industry...The quality of what a lot of people could shoot went up. We felt it would be nice if we could do something that would be [beholden] to that but at the same time had the ability to maybe do RAW and maybe solve a couple of the problems that we had. And I guess one of the problems was contrast range."
