Cinematographer Bradford Young on Being the 'Custodian of the Moment'

The New York Times profiles Bradford Young, the cinematographer of two back-to-back lauded Sundance films from last year (Pariah) and this (Middle of Nowhere). Says Middle of Nowhere director Ava DuVernay about Young's work, "The word that comes to mind when thinking of Bradford’s visual style is ‘lush.' It is full. When I watch people of color in most films, the image is so often flat or partial. Nothing about what Bradford does is partial. Every frame is full-bodied and potent and robust.
