'Frozen Planet' Cameraman Doug Allan on His Love of Shooting in the Arctic

As a wildlife photographer, Doug Allan has shot all over the world and in all manners of conditions. But his favorite place to shoot is in the arctic. Why? As he puts it, "Light is the crucial element whenever I’m filming. It provides the inspirational backdrop to any image. And in the Poles, the quality of that light is ever changing. An iceberg can slip from barely noticed to a jewel in the landscape as quickly as the splintered sunlight dances across its face under scudding clouds."

Allan's book, Freeze Frame, featuring photos from his arctic shoots is available through his website now. Read more here on The Telegraph.
