On the Set of Laika's Stop-Motion Animated Movie, 'Paranorman'

Peter Sciretta of SlashFilm reports from animation studio Laika's set where he witnessed the painstaking attention to detail that goes into making a stop-motion film like Coraline or the upcoming Paranorman. He writes, "This is the first time I’ve ever had the chance to visit a stop-motion animated production, and what I learned about the process both amazed and shocked me. I was surprised to find out how much artistry and patience goes into a film like this, more than you could ever imagine.

A Digital Manhattan in 'The Avengers'

Jeff White, visual effects supervisor for The Avengers, explains how a digital New York was created for the film in a slideshow on The New York Times.

He says, "One of the real challenges is that you’re somewhat limited in what you can do in New York. The last third of the movie is action-packed and filled with a lot of explosions and there are quite a few restrictions in terms of pyrotechnics and road closures, so to tell the kind of story that Joss Whedon wanted to tell, it eventually became too difficult to try and pull off in New York.”

Rhett and Link's Retro Rollerskating Commercial Makes Best Week Ever's List

Rhett & Link's latest low-budget local commercial has made Best Week Ever's list. The spot, for Roller Kingdom, reminds kids that rollerskating is the best answer to saying no to drugs. Says one pint-sized spokesman, "I want to be addicted to roller-skating, not crack!"
