Neill Blomkamp Doesn't Care for 48 FPS

District 9 director Neill Blomkamp had some surprising things to say about higher frame-rates at a recent press conference for his film Elysium, especially considering that Blomkamp's mentor is Peter Jackson, who is famously shooting The Hobbit at 48 fps.

Said Blomkamp, "If you were to show a child who’s six months now a 48 fps movie, when they’re sixty, it’ll be as familiar to them as 24 fps are for us now. But there may be an alien quality from 48 fps; it has kind of a hyper-realism that takes away the cinema of it. I don’t actually like 48 fps. I prefer 24 fps."
