ETC Explores Color Science
The Entertainment Technology Center at USC will present "A Digital Craftsperson's Introduction to Color Science" -- a color science workshop for filmmakers on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24. Instructed by author, technology expert and SMPTE fellow Charles Poynton, the workshop will unravel the mystery behind color systems. Poynton will explain the technical and perceptual reasons as to why they are necessary and how they inter-relate. The workshop will address the critical importance of perceptual coding, the fundamentals of the transforms between various color representations and explore color management theory and practice. The event takes place from 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. on each day at the
Ince Theater at Sony Pictures Imageworks. The theater is located at 9050 W. Washington Blvd. in Culver City.
