One of the most interesting bits of news to come out of NAB 2012 is Blackmagic Design's foray into digital cameras with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, a compact camera with a 2.5K sensor priced at just under $3,000.
Says a representative of Blackmagic in the video below, "I think a lot of people are familiar with us at the other end of the production process. ...For the last 10 years we've been heavily involved in the editing world and we've been taking all the material coming from cameras and having to work with those in an edit environment. It makes perfect sense for us [to come out with a camera], because we know what's required in that process. [We thought] let's go make a camera so that we could make those links even tighter."
