G-Technology Unveils New G-Dock EV and G-Drive Pro Featuring Thunderbolt

Shaun McGlaun of SlashGear writes: G-Technology has unveiled new storage solutions at NAB 2013. The first storage solution that the company has unveiled is called the G-Dock ev and it fits into the new Evolution Series family. The storage solution is the only two-bay docking station with interchangeable and expandable storage modules that can be used as standalone external hard drives. That feature makes it easy to transfer, edit, and distribute content in a digital workflow environment in a more efficient nature. In addition to the G-Dock ev with Thunderbolt, the Evolution Series also includes the G-Drive EV Plus external hard drive modules using USB 3.0. The removable and interchangeable storage modules are designed to be taken into the field and used as standalone external drives for the storage of raw content.

Matrox Video has announced Matrox Mojito 4K, a quad 3G-SDI, 4K video monitoring card for use with the upcoming release of Adobe professional video editing tools on Windows platforms. Matrox Mojito 4K enables realtime monitoring and output of video footage at resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 and at frame rates up to 60 fps (4Kp60).

Intel Announces Next-Gen Thunderbolt: 20Gbps Throughput and 4K Support

Craig Lloyd of SlashGear writes: At NAB 2013, Intel just announced the next-generation of Thunderbolt, codenamed “Falcon Ridge,” which is Apple’s latest protocol for file transfer, as well as transmitting video. Intel says that the next-generation Thunderbolt protocol will be able to push 20Gbps and will support 4K video when it’s planned to launch in 2014.

How to Import F5/F55 Footage in FCP, Avid and Premiere

Andy Shipsides of AbelCine writes: With every new camera, come many new questions about workflow. The term “workflow” can be fairly broad, but today I am looking at importing Sony F5/F55 footage into various non-linear editing systems (NLEs). Both the F5 & F55 can record in MPEG2 (XDCAM), XAVC and HDCAM SR formats internally. With the addition of the AXS-R5 recorder, they can also record in Sony Raw. This article is focused on MPEG2 and XAVC, but be sure to keep an eye out for future blogs on working with Sony Raw and HDCAM SR. The F5 & F55 workflows are similar to that of the F3 and XDCAM EX cameras, but with some significant changes.

Strategic Alliance Between Maxon and Adobe: Two New Features in After Effects

MotionVFX blog writes: Two weeks ago we found out that, according to Steve Forde, the Product Manager for Adobe After Effects, Adobe and Maxon created an alliance that has for goal to create solutions that will improve workflows in After Effects and Cinema 4D pipelines. Now Maxon revealed some more info on this matter and on the first step in this strategic alliance with Adobe. The aim of the cooperation is to deliver a new level of integration between Cinema 4D and After Effects and according to the company, the recently revealed next release of Adobe’s software will include two Maxon technologies directly within the new Adobe After Effects: Cineware and Cinema 4D Lite. Below is some more info on both technologies (via Maxon) and according to this news we can expect even more to come in the future!
